Some time ago I decided to have a central way to access all the music in the house on any computer in our house. I could have gone with N.A.S. (Network Attached Storage) solutions or external hard drives. But while trying to look ahead, I decided on Windows Home Server.
I built it myself out of random computer parts that I had around the house and I used the 120 day free trial to really help me understand if this is the way to go. So I started out with two 400GB parallel drives. I soon realized that this was not enough space so I added 2 500GB SATA drives. With the OS drive being 250GB, I had a total of 2 Terabytes and 5 drives in my system. I’m in love with this setup and there is lots more room for expansion. There is lots more to tell, but I’ll save that for another post. I’ll be a little more descriptive about how I upgraded to 3TB, Placed my DVD’s on the server and got rid of my cable and satellite bills. Stay Tuned.
